USNS Comfort Provides Much-Needed Aid to Puerto Rico

The USNS Comfort seagoing Medical Treatment Facility has landed in Puerto Rico to provide aid to the island recently devastated by Hurricane Maria.

500 medics have been deployed aboard the ship to offer mobile surgical hospital service, acute medical care and humanitarian relief to victims of the hurricane. AERCO B+II WaterWizard water heaters installed on the ship will assist in this effort by providing much-needed hot water.

The Norfolk-based ship has more than 1,000 beds and 11 operating rooms. It has given medical relief to thousands of injured civilians and military personnel around the world since 1990.
